Gary is a teacher, former public relations and social media manager, freelance writer, former sports reporter, sports aficionado, philomath and thirsty traveller forever in search of new adventures.
I have lived in five continents – Africa, Europe, North America, Asia and Australia – and currently reside in South Korea after recently moving from London. Prior to living in London, I lived in Brisbane, which boasts a superb humid subtropical climate. Some Brisbanites complain about the winter, a staggering thought considering the city’s sunny and warm conditions.
Originally, I hail from Calgary, Canada, the home of the Calgary Stampede, the 1988 winter Olympic Games and the 1989 Stanley Cup Champions. I am the only one in my family lineage born outside of England. All of my roots are submerged deep in England’s culture.
Most impassioned about sports, travel and human interest stories, I believe non-fiction anecdotes often, at first glance, appear more fictional than fiction itself.
I currently freelance for Kiss From The World, an online travel publication, and have contributed to The Canadian Press, Blaze Magazine – the official magazine of the Calgary Flames, Zone Magazine – the official magazine of the Calgary Hitmen, The Travel Itch, Hackwriters (though he is not a hack writer) Go Nomad and In Travel Magazine.
